GHX gasket materials can be fabricated to suit the individual needs of our customers. Elastomer, which is chemically similar to rubber, is a polymer that can be stretched many times beyond its original shape and maintain its integrity without deformation. Examples of Elastomers used by GHX are Neoprene, Buna-N, SBR, Red Rubber, EPDM, Viton and Hypalon. These versatile materials can easily be cut into many different gasket shapes, and are useful for sealing materials such as plastic and fiberglass. They are also very chemically resistant.
Compressed Fibers, also referred to as compressed gasketing, are firmer and denser than Elastomers and therefore more suited to industrial applications where higher pressure and temperatures are involved. The reason they are called Compressed Fibers is that this type of gasketing usually combines fibers of two or more different high strength materials, frequently bound with Elastomer, to provide a maximum of chemical resistance, blow out resistance, and sealability, for maximum effectiveness and safety.
Metal Materials are used in the most high temperature, high pressure applications. We have various configuration designs to suit almost any industrial application, and despite the strength of metal, we use flexible sealing elements such as graphite in order to maintain maximum seal with enough give to provide exceptional effectiveness and safety for you and your employees.
