Thermoglass Textiles are engineered and manufactured to meet a wide variety of requirements. In the designing and engineering of Amatex Thermoglass textile products, the requirements of their end uses determine the yarn size and construction, weave pattern, fabric construction and fabric finish.
The filament diameter, count, twist and the ply of the yarn all affect the thickness, weight, pliability, surface texture and tensile strength of the fabric. The weave pattern controls its stability and directional strength. The fabric construction influences strength, pliability and appearance. The fabric finish stabilizes the weave and/or improves its resistance to high temperature, moisture, flame, abrasion, etc.

NON-FLAMMABLE
Thermoglass products will not burn or smolder.

HIGH HEAT RESISTANCE
May be used at surface temperatures ranging from 120 degrees F to 1000 F. Retains 50% of tensile strength at 700 degrees F and as much as 25% at 1000 F.

EXCELLENT DIMENSIONAL STABILITY
Will not stretch or shrink. No more than 3% elongation under maximum stress. Retains stability even at high temperatures.

HIGH TENSILE STRENGTH
Highest strength-to-weight ratio of any industrial textile.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
Inorganic THERMOGLASS is highly resistant to most chemicals except hydrofluoric and hot phosphoric acid. Also wet hydrogen chloride. Will not rot or mildew.

EXCELLENT ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES
High dielectric strength and low constants.

GREAT FLEXIBILITY
The very fine filaments used in making Thermoglass give it a high degree of flexibility.

FINISHES
Thermoglass textiles can be treated with special finishes to meet specific requirements. These finishes include:

• Heat treatment to improve cutting qualities.
• Weave set treatment to improve cutting & sewing.
• Waterproof finish
• Re wet with pre-applied adhesive
• Flame proofed
• Silicones and color dyed (red, orange, gray, etc.). It can also be supplied with laminated aluminum foil, neoprene or vinyl coating

MEET U.S. COAST GUARD REQUIRMENTS
Conforms to U.S. Coast Guard requirements for Incombustible Materials subpart 164.009.

APPLICABLE SPECIFICATIONS
Amatex Thermoglass products can be manufactured to meet U.S. Government specification MIL-C20079 and other customer specifications. For insulation materials with special corrosion and chloride requirements. Thermoglass products can be supplied in conformance to MIL-I-24244.

Amatex offers four distinct categories of Thermoglass fabrics:

• MARINE…. These lightweight fabrics, made from texturized yarns, are used primarily in shipyard applications and are in compliance with MIL-C-20079.
• INDUSTRIAL… This group of medium and heavy weight fabrics is especially suitable for general industrial uses.
• ROVING… These heavy grade fabrics are woven with texturized roving yarns, and may be used for industrial application with less rigid requirements.
• WIRE-INSERTED… These wire-inserted fabrics are available on order for use where extremely high strength is required.
  You can get the above items in cloth with different oz. per sq yard. In widths 40” and 60”. Some can be made in 48” and 50”. Also can get in a tape form with thicknesses of .033, .070, .125 and .250 from ½” to 8”. They make it in sleeving with various I.DS. and wall thickness. Comes in wicking and ropes ranging in O. D. size 1/8” to 2” twisted, braided and knitted ropes (low,med., high density).
